Iron deficiency

Iron deficiency is a common condition in which an individual lacks iron in the body which tends to lead to a reduction in the number of red blood cells produced by the body. Some common problems which come with iron deficiency are as follows:

  • Headaches
  • Hair loss
  • Shortness of breath
  • A pale complexion
  • Tiredness and lack of energy

Some good sources of iron include:

  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Brown rice
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Meat and fish
  • Eggs
  • Dried fruit i.e. raisins, dried apricots

For those who are always on the go and don’t have time to cook proper meals using those sources, there are alternatives such as fruit and vegetable smoothies. One healthy and easy smoothie which I have used myself for some time and found very useful contains beetroot, carrots and green apples. Just take one of each of these items and blend them together in a blender and you’re ready to get healthy.
